This has to be my favorite foreign cover of Variant so far. First, it’s the only one to change the cover art (and I really kinda like this artwork). Second, it’s the only one to make a major change to the title (A Floresta Mecanica Os Variantes translates to The Mechanical Forest: The Variants). Third, it spells my name wrong. Fourth, it says Variant was a New York Times Bestseller. (It wasn’t.)
So anyway: pretty dang fantastic!

Where can I get one?
I wish I knew! I’ve been trying to translate the websites of Portuguese bookstores all week.
LOVE it!
Awesome! One of my close friends speaks Portuguese–fun!
Omg, can’t believe this. It’s a shame to see that this happened in a portuguese edition as I’m Portuguese.

Just for that I’ll be reading your book in the original version not in the translated version. I hope the publisher will make a new edition with your name spelled in the right form!
Congrats on your success though !
Best wishes!
I agree with Filipa. I’m also Portuguese and I can’t believe this. It’s such a big fail… OMG!
Unlike Filipa, I already bought the book and I’m currently reading. I am really enjoying the story.
Best wishes
Gotta be honest, the first thing I noticed when I got mine in the mail was exactly that, the name spelled wrong. The weirdest thing yet is that inside the name is spelled right, which means that the mistake is only in the cover.
I absolutely adore this cover, is so beautiful, vibrant and mysterious. But I love its content even more! =) Great story, Robison.
And yes, I’m Portuguese as well. =)
P.S. – Trena, you could always ask someone from Portugal to buy it and send it for you. You have three Portuguese girls here. Eheheh
I’m not at all bothered by the name being spelled wrong. EVERYONE spells it wrong, so I’m used to it. (My driver’s license was wrong, my high school diploma was wrong, etc.)
My 12 year old son chose “Variant” as his choice at the school book fair.
I started reading it while waiting for my turn at his Parent-teacher conference and ended up paying him $5 to let me read it first. I went the next day and bought “Feedback” and finished it in one day as well. My son read for five straight hours today. He is as hooked as I am! Can’t wait to read what you come up with next.
I was never bored for a moment with either book. I’m pretty critical about the books I read (My friend is convinced that I hate everything I read) but I loved both of these!
Thanks, Jeanette!!
I finished right now this book, and I loved it… It made me want to start the second book right now!
I´m portuguese too and unfortunatly I read the book in portuguese. But now I will look for the second book in english.. I will try to do it but where I live that task is really difficult.
But I wanted to say that you are an excelent writter and I loved the book.
