Presenting:
Cover, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: I love the bleak, overexposed, surveillance-camera-ish feel. I love the slight unrealness of it, with the the spinning, swirling in the leaves at the bottom (it’s more clear in the larger version of the cover). I love the colors—the steely blues and black and the bright red of the girl’s sweater. I love the title, how it’s faded and transparent (but the phrase “Trust No One” is bright white). I love certain aspects of the cover that relate to the story in ways that I can’t discuss for spoilery reasons. DANG IT, I LOVE THIS COVER.
Also, when you see the real version it will be even cooler. It’s being printed on a kind of holographic foil paper, so it will all have a bit of a metallic sheen that will change as you look at it from different angles.
Holy crap, I could not be happier with this thing.

Looks awesome!!
Not to be a total fan boy, but I’ve already put this as my desktop backdrop. (It’s only fair, Maze Runner was there for almost a year.) But I actually think this is much cooler than that even.
Now to convince my wife that I need to preorder it.
Also, it’s not my cover and *I* can’t stop looking at it and how cool it is.
That is great my friend. It is so cool to see this happening. Great art work. I will not be making it my screensaver but it still rocks. Congratulations.
Fantastic cover! Congratulations! The only thing it needs is a scratch and sniff spot that smells like bacon and it would be perfect.
PERFECT! Just awesome. Congratulations, Rob! I can’t wait to get copies for me and the teens!
So very, extremely, magnificently cool!! Yay for the release date, too.
Very nice! I’m excited for you, Rob. I think this cover portends a great future for Variant.
Woohoo! I agree. Totally awesome fantastic cover!
I love the eeriness of it. I was already going to add it to my wishlist, but now I won’t be reading it with a paper bag over it. Nice.
Perfect cover. And as you know, the book is already pre-ordered.
That cover is AWESOME! I love it. Can’t wait til October 18th!
Fantastic cover, Rob! Congratulations! I’m going to go pre-order Variant right this minute.
It’s perfect! Excatly right for the story—which I am LOVING! Congratulations on awesomeness all around.
yopur cover is beautiful. Awesome, awesome, awesome.
“your” even . . . no really, I am a writer
Ooooh, shiny!
Congrats Rob! I absolutely LOVE how the girl is looking over shoulder, as though she knows she’s being watched. And how the “camera” effects have caused her face to appear all bluish. Eerie perfection!
This is all kinds of fantastic, Rob. Couldn’t be happier for you.
This is absolutely awesome! I’m hoping to hear you speak at a SLC conference in May, and can’t wait for your book to come out!
You can trust me, Rob. Unless it involves money, or sweets, or anything competitive. On second thought, you probably can’t trust me.
Great cover. Can’t wait to read it.
That cover seriously rocks! Can’t wait to read it.
That cover is definitely an attention-getter! Congrats Rob! This is too cool–can’t wait to read it.
Wow, what a great cover. Honestly, I know nothing about your book (yet) and that cover right there makes me want to pick it up and read it. Is it mystery or dystopian? I write dystopian, so that would get me mega excited.

I really love it, Rob!
Amazing!!! And it totally works with the story.
P.S. I fully plan on purchasing the actual book (not just the electronic version) when it comes out and forcing it upon my 17 year old nephew (he will love it…even though it will take a little coercing to get him to read it)!
That is one AWESOME cover!
